2016. the vision.

2016 vision board (updated)

not surprisingly, my vision board centers around italy.

but not in the decluttering and packing and shipping and goodbye-saying and traveling and moving and language-learning and painting and remodeling and culture-shocking and adapting and settling kind of way.

more in an abstract kind of way.

i had just pasted a photo of villa magnolia’s entrance hall on my vision board,
surrounded by OPEN A WORLD OF POSSIBILITIES and THE ARRIVAL,
when i recalled a dear friend-and-colleague’s comment to me about “an open door.”
(thank you, cathy cochrane!)

her words quickly found a place on my board as well (see above),
because they’re a perfect embodiment of how i am feeling.
as i venture into the unknown in so many different directions . . .

with my new e-course.
with my dad’s new health concerns.
with my preparations for a new italian life.

here is the entrance hall, with sunshine peeking through.
the LIGHT beckoning to me.

i’ve decided to add two subtitles to my 2016 word, THE ARRIVAL.
although i’m still unraveling and playing with them,
i can tell you which definitions are enticing me to explore more.

LIGHT:
radiant energy.
a gleam or sparkle.
illumination.
an insight or understanding.
daybreak.
luminary.
carefree. delicate. agile. bright.
of little weight.
ignite.

OPEN:
free of obstructions.
numerous and large spaces.
unfolded, expanded.
accessible, available.
a clear passage.
set in action, begin.
uncovered, revealed.
receptive.
blossom.

according to urban dictionary, to have arrived means
“to have achieved a victory that required great endurance.”

hopefully, by the end of the year, i will have arrived.
but what will that look like?
achieving at least some of my many goals.
ready to move on and dream up some new ones.

i think perhaps part of the exhilaration of life though
may be to never fully arrive.
it may be to leave room for possibility and second chances.
always a new target to aim for, a new horizon to sail towards.

a welcoming light into an opening of opportunity.

Hi April, it’s lovely to see your vision for the year expanding and developing. Vision boards are very powerful and so evocative.
This year, I too find myself opening up to new possibilities and adventures and whatever I plan, I ask for it, or something even better … as I have a feeling there are awesome opportunities coming that I haven’t even imagined yet.

Hi April….oh how inviting is that open door in Italy!!! So many dreams fulfilled await you. I love your vision board! It makes me want to come for a visit. I also love your poetry…ever thought of publishing it? Enjoy this unfolding and arrival. I sense many arrivals for you this year. Arrivals in destination to your new home and arrivals in reaching your goals and arrivals in deepening your connection to others. You deserve this wondrous life you are creating!

Oh those pictures of your Villa Magnolia! So beautiful! I love your theme this week and especially love, “i think perhaps part of the exhilaration of life though
may be to never fully arrive.” I couldn’t agree more! That target of potential just keeps stretching us a little further. <3

So much inspiration packed onto one board! It’s so vibrant, I feel it leaping off the page. Here’s to everything “arriving” as you desire – or exceeding even your wildest dreams!

My own life will take a similar shift this year with a move to a new city. I will hold that image of the open door close to remind me of the possibilities that await me (us) on the other side.

    xo

Vision board! Makes me want to do one now! I havent done one in January. So perhaps thats something I could still do this month right? You continue to inspire me April!

April, my dear. I would say that you have already arrived. 🙂 I can’t wait to see how the rest of the year unfolds for you.
