4 travel size containers of inspiration

1.

processing, processing, processing
my new world.

first. connecting and trusting.
next. staying in the moment.
then. integrating all of the information into my own experience.
finally. creating meaning.

i’m still moving back and forth between numbers one, two, and three.
while being mindful of, attentive to, and intentional about number four.

2.

the newness, the fresh start,
the sunlight,
the chance to begin again.

i like it all.

but first-thing-in-the-morning is still not my favorite.

3.

“because boredom, monotony, mediocrity,
stodginess, stagnation, and inflexibility
are eradicated from your vocabulary (and life).”

i’m quoting myself,
from a blog post i wrote last march.
about why travel is so important.

since moving to italy,
since watching current events unfold in my homeland,
since witnessing both vitriol and condescension,
i’d like to attach an addendum.

“because when you move to a foreign country
and become immersed in the immigration process,
and are a bit fearful and unsure to suddenly be the minority
(despite being treated with only decency and respect),
your awareness and understanding
is taken to a whole new level.”

my new motto as of yesterday:
create serenity around you and let it spread.

4.

villa magnolia is a work-in-progress.
and probably will be for a long time to come.

much love and attention is being paid to it,
but it will never be perfect.
however, with its charm and its quirks,
it will always be both lovely and interesting.

i’m a work-in-progress as well.
and i will never be perfect either.

yet none of this matters.

because women will not be coming to italy,
to the villa, or to me-as-their-coach
for perfection.

they will be coming for both challenge and warmth,
breakthrough and triumph,
shedding-of-skin and blossoming-to-potential,
essential authenticity and enchanting magic.

they will be coming for the delicious unfolding story
of living out their dreams.

I like you new motto! I can strongly relate to it: getting creative to spread calm and serenity. Can I borrow it?;)

  2. Lisa says:

Such a lovely post and it’s so true that going through the process for life in another country gives you an insight into the stress faced by those seeking saftey in a new place. Perhaps everyone needs to try it at least once.

Also love the idea of being a work in progress much like our house, I have enjoyed seeing your ‘unfolding story’ and meeting a kindred spirit in you xx

  3. Christy says:

“Create serenity around you and let it spread”-can I quote you on this? You have just spoken to my heart! Thank you!

  4. Jul's says:

“Create serenity around you and let it spread”…like Christy above, can I quote you and write this quote on my gratitude wall? April, I may be moving in next to Villa Magnolia for some of your daring, brave and exhilirating Italian relocation life…magical!
