the saddest word in the dictionary.

things have been sailing along.

lots of progress with the villa renovations.
happy excitement while planning my retreat.
positive and inspiring updates from a & n (sons) in the u.s.

and then a phone call, in the wee hours monday morning.
the unwelcome kind that chills the blood,
and freezes well-being into icicles.

the abrupt reminder of how quickly things can change.

while waiting for news, any news,
i felt helpless and frightened.
and oh-so-far-away from family and friends.

the emergency-part of the situation is now past.
things are still a little unsteady, but better.

we just never know though, do we?
how quickly things can change.

the experience only reinforced my belief.
that life is meant to be lived.

decide today to live each day as if you mean it.
make your existence one big adventure.

  • shout out your intentions!
  • swing from the chandelier!
  • make the first move!
  • take a walk at midnight!
  • say hello to strangers!
  • jump to new heights!
  • book the flight!
  • buy the dress!
  • order the more expensive item on the menu!
  • toast to a new day, every day!

go ahead.
say YES to what seems impossible.
(because it probably is possible.)

DON’T MISS YOUR CHANCE.
REGRET is the saddest word in the dictionary.

(and do you think james bond would ever hesitate . . . ?)

me & bond. james bond.

There are so much I can related to in your post April. Life is an adventure and you are now on a great adventure in Italy. I wish I could visit there too, and walk down the street at midnight and say hello to strangers.

Wow, such a powerful message and delivered in your authentic, personal poetry style! I have to agree…regret is likely the saddest word in the dictionary. Thank you for being the reminder of live life to the fullest! You are always such an inspiration…super excited for your Italy retreat upcoming and to hear how it goes. Hope that phone call and its news will keep finding stability and a positive outcome.

So true. My mantra everyday as I care for my 90 year old father. I hope your situation is working out and you have relief soon.

A great reminder April. How often life can take over and we forget this powerful lesson. Thank you for sharing your situation and hope it works out soon XX
